phpFox2 Development Milestones
phpFox2 is very near its final beta version and the start of our release candidates. With the release of beta 3 we mentioned that we wanted to release the list of final public features that will be developed and completed for the final release. Once we have reached RC1 (July 1, 2009), which will be the next release after our final beta version (June 17, 2009) the development of new modules will be paused until the development for v2.1 begins.
We provide a time line of what will be done over the upcoming months.

List of features/tasks leading up to v2.0.0 RC1, v2.0.0 and v2.1:
- Public features accepted and will be completed by v2.0.0 RC1

- Public tasks that will be completed by v2.0.0 RC1
- Tasks that will be completed by v2.0.0. (Includes AdminCP and Engine related tasks)
- Tasks that will be completed by v2.1
Features & Tasks accepted for v2.1 are not final and the list will grow over the next few months. The features & tasks for v2.0.0 and RC1 are final and are the remaining things we need to accomplish before we can release a stable version.
EDIT: Replies for Tasks are disabled at the moment as tasks are reserved for internal development discussions. Replies can however still be added to Bugs and Feature Requests.

Public features accepted and will be completed by v2.1
Some of these are already implemented per Twitter so the list is kinda not accurate. None the less, one of my biggest pet peeves about 1.6 is how the ACP is accessed. I strongly feel the ACP should require a login page similar to IPB, WordPress, Joomla, Elgg and others. As well their should hold a session for when inactive for about 30 mins you get logged out and is required to sign back in. Logging into ACP should not affect your ability to view public side of site as a guest… Meaning if I am logged into acp, I shouldn’t automatically get logged into the site public side and vice versa.

The language system is not yet ready and wont be ready until RCs because we need to complete all the modules before.

How about FFmpeg, how will this be handled in V2? I ask because I see that other vendors distribute it in their install and it runs at setup I think such as dolphin

Not really, the link where you got that I guess its this one http://tinyurl.com/32thcg , the author says “navigate to where you wanna install Dolphin, and upload the contents (you need not upload ray/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe).”.
an ffmpeg.exe file will do nothing in a linux server, ffmpeg needs to be compiled for the operating system it will run.

Simply uploading a ffmpeg wont work, simply uploading the binary files of a unix compiled ffmpeg wont work for everyone.

Yes, Beta 4 will be released today. Our general deadline is 10 PM GMT, however we have recently got the product out a few hours earlier.
