phpFox2 RC8 Released

We are pleased to announce that phpFox2 RC 8 (Release Candidate 8.) has been released for public testing.

RC8 introduces mainly fixes in preparation for the stable release.

phpFox2 RC8 can be downloaded direct from the clients area. When you have selected a license and reached the download page look for “phpFox2 RC8″ to download the product.

Hi,

some service providers would let their users post content to my V2 site remotely, without visiting my website.

I guess they need some information about API requests.

Is this already available, and if so, what kind of data would they need ?

I have posted in the forum already but got no responses.

Hi,

I am awaiting for admin demo mode for public testing to be able to check out marketplace feature. At the moment I have found that admin can change an advertisement record in marketplace to featured which puts it on top of the list in a category. Is it actually possible to use PayPal mode in phpfox version 2 in order to charge users for featured advertisements in marketplace? My reason to purchase your product only because of this feature and I hope it is possible with the new version of your product?

Another question relates to user profiles. Would it be possible in version 2 to create custom fields such as suburbs for example and use these fields in marketplace as well? For example when users register on the website they must specify their suburb which is the custom field. When adding an advertisement in marketplace they can specify what suburb and the city the product is located in if they want to?

The features mentioned above are very important, awaiting your reply.

As for the marketplace, that is not a feature in the default package, you can always have it custom developed for you though.

As for the custom fields, it is part of the default package.

Thank you for your kind words. We have not started working on an official French language package, but I know other languages are being worked and when stable is released I expect to see many languages available.

Quetion when I update from my phpfox 6.2.1 to the phpfox2 will all my information be in place? The contact information, the footer?

will all my members be in database?
will all there picture be available?
Will everything be imported with out disturb bug?

All your members data(blog, photo, comments etc) will be intact after the upgrade to v2. However, the template, designs or/and phrases will not be importer since v2 is like a new product. Anything related to customization will not be imported.

Not a stupid question, but it would be better to submit it in the forums in the future.

To enable the IM go to your AdminCP >> Settings >> System Settings >> Manage Settings >> IM >> Enable IM (Footer Bar) >> True.
