Fixing YouTube Device Support Issues for v3

If you are running the Video module for v3 you may have noticed your videos being pasted from YouTube come with a “Device Support” warning.

To fix this issue, download this zip.

Unzip, and you will find the PHP file “grab.class.php”.

Replace the one on your PHPfox website by uploading it to the folder: /module/video/include/service/

Note that this fix can only fix new videos being added.

If you would like to fix this issue without having to overwrite “grab.class.php”, follow these steps…

I have updated to this but still get the same results. I have varnish but it was cleared and also tested going straight through apache. Is this the only change needed and is anyone else having the issue that it doesn’t work?

This change worked for me for 2 days. Device support warning went but now not able new uploads its not supporting. giving error “Not a valid video site URL.” please help

One thing to note is that this feature uses the embed.ly API, and in order to import more videos it requires an API key (http://embed.ly/pricing). The API key is free for their base plan.

After “Not a valid video site URL” for the updated grab.class.php I switched back to old file. with device support error one. that worked ok as far as I was able to upload and then update the headers and details. but now even old grab.class.php stopped working after clicking submit http://www.agrowbook.com/video/add/url/ is appearing without any process. Raymond can you please help on what might have gone wrong

Update regarding the latest issues with YouTube videos. We will be going away from Embed.ly and moving towards a Github project (https://github.com/dereuromark/MediaEmbed)
